East Wing Magazine and FLARE

East Wing Magazine has joined the First Ladies Association for Research and Education (FLARE) as a Lifetime Inaugural Individual member. The membership signals the publication’s support for FLARE’s mission to create, sustain, promote and publicize research and education relevant to the contributions, lives, impact and lasting legacies of American first ladies. 

East Wing Magazine, the first journalistic-driven publication dedicated exclusively to covering America’s first ladies, launched earlier this month. The magazine’s mission focuses on covering first ladies present and past and investigating how their legacies continue to impact society. The publication covers current events surrounding First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and living former first ladies, digging deeper into the stories that stem from their influence. And, it examines the stories of first ladies from history, investigating how they wielded power in the White House and paved the way for the first ladies who followed them.

Already, East Wing Magazine has examined in a story about the lasting impact of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and how she opened the door for a permanent Office of the First Lady in the East Wing. Also spotlighted was the prominent role astrology took in the lives of some first ladies like Florence Harding on the recent 100th anniversary of her husband, President Warren Harding’s sudden death. And, readers had a deep look at the agricultural policy interests at play at the annual First Lady’s Luncheon. There’s more to come.
